alright stangers... listen up cuz this will come in handy.. specially on fords newer toys...

dont have 50-60-100-200 bucks to buy a special tool?? i know i sure didnt... and i needed a new one today... called around to the local part stores to see about borrowing one.. they wanted $55 to rent the stupid thing at autozone... other ones didnt even have tools to rent...

here was the problem.. on the "Self adjusting" brake calipers on the stang (supposedly other models have this too).. you have to "screw" the caliper back into place.. not just press it back into place like all the other vehicles ive ever dealt with..

not having the money to rent or buy the tools and wanting to finish the brake job on my stang i got ingenuitive... i made myself a tool from some scrap steel i had laying around..

5" piece of square tube.. 4" of angle iron. 1 1/2" of 1/8" flat stock, my handy welder and a angle grinder... 2 hrs of my time and this is what i came out with...

the nubs i just built them up by welding in one spot and using the angle grinder to shape..

not much bigger than the caliper depressor...

and i have just the name for the tool too... im gonna call it the F.U.F.T. (F* U Ford Tool...) just cuz i needed a special tool for the brakes instead of keeping it easy...

yup id recommend getting the tool before you do your stangs brakes sometime cuz youll need it... way it read in my book it sounded like itd be easy to turn the caliper but it wasnt... so someday ill redesign the tool to work better... that or ill just buy the right one when i have $$$ again...

tnx guys Smiley

same kind of tool tony??? im surprised working for 1aauto they dont let you do it there in their shop... whenever i worked in the dealerships thats what all the guys working there just did.. theyd come in before or after hours and work on their cars in the empty bay and use the shops specialty tools...
