Battery clean help?
«
on:

wasnt sure if i should have put this under engine, appearance or here.. but figured itd fit better under the DIY & FAB section...
Question is does anyone have a good way that will clean the top of the batterys off and keep them that way?? (aside from going out and buying a sealed top which is in the plans for the future) Im really getting tired of having to clean off the top of my battery every month.... acid keeps building up on top and attacking my posts&cable connections...
Anyone have a way to stop this from re-occurring...

Clean the top and post with baking soda........ then throw a penny on top of the battery and all the battery acid will attack and collect on the penny. About once every other month change the penny.
Best part is when you pop the hood the penny can becomes a conversation piece with ppl asking you if you knew you had a penny on top of your battery.

i already clean it with baking soda... keeps coming back... and the bad thing is with the penny... the cable connections on the battery for the 04's are copper so itd still attack both...

yeah most likey....i just wish i could find a way to keep the acid off the top of the battery all together.. lol
i had originally thought the ends of the cables were lead or steel whatever else they use to make them from... but one of the times i had to cleaned them i used my terminal wire brush and it revealed that they were made of copper
FYI.. them Terminal protection sprays dont work worth didly... did that when i first got my stang... acid just seemed to feed on it... now i got them lil scotch bright felt rings to go between the connectors and battery...

That stuff is a pain. Just keep cleaning it until you can buy an Optima battery for it.
