We're up here in the north east when I pulled into work this morning everyone had their blades up,but then again we're car guys.

Sticking the blades up helps to keep them from sticking to the window.

Remember to always turn your wipers off when parking the car, if you leave them on and it snows out you run the risk of having the wipers turn on when you start the car. If the windshield has allot of snow on it and the wipers turn on you run the risk of burning out the wiper motor,breaking a gear or blowing a fuse.

Never use the wipers to clear snow off of the windshield.

ntm ripping your blades apart... mine were off had scrapped the ice off the windows... went to brush the stuff that had fallen after id finished scraping the ice off.. and the ribber blades ripped in 2 right down the seam they flip on  that was one of the times i was back home... blades were getting old but still worked at the time lol..
