been awhile since i did this.. but thought itd be fun to share... specially since i know not all of us just have stangs around the house.. year or so ago i got tired of looking at the holes in my trucks bumper so i decided to do something about it.. I really didnt feel like shelling out the $$$ to buy a new one so since it was metal i figured "heck ill just fix it myself"..

being that it was a painted bumper the first thing i had to do was sand off the paint around the holes... (more than just whats shown here.. but youd never see if i had taken a pic of the whole bumper.. but will give you an idea of how it looked)

then came the fun part of fixing them with my welder...

driver

passenger

after id finished that couldnt stand to leave it unpainted like that and figured... well ive already sanded some parts might as well do the rest of it lol..

didnt get any of it after id sanded it but here it is primered...

and since white bumpers dont look so good on black trucks it got painted black too..

well 3 weeks later after staring at the back one with its fresh paint and the front one with its 20 sum year old faded paint i decided to make the front look good too.. so off it came...

heres how it looked sanded... (shame i couldnt leave it like that.. it looked nice and shiny)

and of course then came the primer...

thanks... wish i could afford to paint the whole truck now.. make it look "somewhat" decent again.. tired of seeing it clouded over all the time... whenever it was painted before they used cheapo paint so i\even if ya do get it to shine up it doesnt look great for very long..

Thats probably a single stage paint. Macco is good for those on a budget. I used them to do my Wrangler. Came out decent. For the 2 years I had it I could see the paint slightly fading already but then again, it didnt bother me to get it covered in mud either  Cool

yeah ive considered them.. but have heard their paint jobs are only good if you do the prep yourself first... at that point i might as well do it myself..  which in a way id like to do it myself.. and "learn" how to do it... only 2 things hold me up.. 1. money.. 2. dont think i have the patience to do it myself lol..

nice wrangler... is it just a mudding toy or do ya got rock crawling with it??

I did it all in that Jeep and was a daily driver with the Mrs. We cruised up to the beach and stuff with it. I did do all my own prep work cause I heard the same thing. I actually had it towed there and home cause it was stripped. For 300.00 plus towing, it was worth it

Did you happen to use etching primer or did you just use regular?
