ive spent the last several months trying to fish my problem out and havent had any luck... (doesnt help me and dad cant agree where the problem is either..)

Heres the problem... changed the pads few months ago and now my calipers wont let go of the rotors... they got so hot i actually boiled the brake fluid rated for 550*F boiling point... Weve changed the lines and still wont release... and heres where me and dad dont agree... with as much as ive heard about Ford having problems with their calipers after changing the pads im convinced the problems there... Dad on the other hand because he had the same problem on the 79 suburban (same situation) we have is convinced its the master cyl not letting the fluid return (was the problem on the suburban)..

is there a way to really tell which ones really causing the problem here??

guy on another board helped me solve the problem... said to tell between the caliper and master cyl.. that if it was the master cylinder/brake lines that the when you cracked the bleeder valve it would squirt brake fluid.. (seeing as i just changed the brake lines i know it wasnt them) if it didnt squirt and the rotors still werent freed then it was the calipers..

cracked the bleeder valves and it confirmed that it was the calipers...

So did you get them to release?Did you bleed the calipers when you put the new hoses in?

Also when you compress the calipers to change out the pads on an ABS equipped car you should undo the brake resivor cap to relieve the pressure in the system,or you may encounter a problem like this.

nope their still frozen tight to the rotor... its the calipers not letting it go... i cant drive it till theyre replaced... now i just have to wait for someone to get me the parts... (which i tried telling them 4 months ago the calipers were known to have problems on recent fords... started showing up in 02... mostly on the f150's, super dutys and the suvs that shared the same brake parts as the trucks did... lately theyre finding it more and more in the cars too...

yup sure did...

i dont have ABS on my stang.. or Traction control... really dont understand how traction control fits into the master cylinder though even though the parts stores seem to ask if you have it...
